Past real opening fantasy sequence in comparison with yours.

We compared are introduction of our childrens film to the introduction of shrek which is another fantasy film.

We both used soundtracks in the introduction to catch the audiences  attention however shrek used a well known song which the audience could relate to and sing along to, which would have worked better however it wouldn't have worked, as well as this Shrek also uses a number of different shots and the use of establishing shots to give a idea of shreks lifestyle. We did the same thing, we established the setting in which are film would be filmed in.

The introduction of shrek used a narrator to introduce the film, this worked well in Shrek as it was more of a complex film and gave a more happy feeling however are filmed more aimed at being creepy and didn't need much of a introduction.

On the shrek introduction they make sure the Actors names we well spotted, we didn't need to do this as our film didn't use Star characters which would attract certain audiences.

Our intro

Analysis of final opening sequence

1) To make our opening sequence fit the genre of fantasy we edited the colour of the clips so that they glow making the forest backdrop seem more mystical.  The

2) The quality of filming we think is quite good as there is no real shaky shots and for our first time doing something like this we feel we did well, we used many different shots throughout the opening sequence making good use of the camera and tripod however we aren't happy with the sound quality in some of the shots as the wind muffled the camera.. The quality of editing we also think is good, it doesn't look like its been overloaded with different effects and transitions, it looks simple and we added effects where its needed, considering this is the first time we have done a project like this we're happy with both editing and filming.

3) For the music on our opening sequence we created a soundtrack on garage band, we based our music to fit the genre with it being quite child friendly but exciting at the same time.

4) Our genre was fantasy and mystical, we chose to film the opening sequence in the forest at the back of the school, with the effects we added on final cut the forest acts well with the genre. We dressed are voodoo with a stick to act as his weapon/staff which fits well with his character as he is very mysterious and people are unsure about him.

5) we feel the opening sequence is effective this is because we have used the many different techniques we were taught in the Media introduction including establishing shots, soundtrack, different editing choices on final cut pro and mis- en- scene, we feel we made a introduction that will attract the children audience using the different techniques. We made sure the film was suitable for children and we feel the would enjoy it.

What is left to do on the opening sequence

We still need to put transitions in between shots so that the open sequence flows.

We want to calm the colours on all the clips so that it gives a more darker feel, we're in the process of doing this throughout the opening sequence

We still need to finish of the opening sequence and add in the final clips to create the ending of the opening sequence.

Sort out the sound clips, maybe create a soundtrack

Create the title

Discussion of Editing choices

We chose to calm the colours of all the shots, so we went into effects and chose the 'glow' effect with toned down the colours in our clip and final product to make it fit our storyline more.

We have done a few transitions in between establishing clips making the forest feel more magical.

We added credits to the clip using the 'text' tool.

Successes\ Hurdles while filming

Successes
We completed all are filming In time (2 days) so we have been left with a good amount of time to edit.
(achieved are deadline)

We found a suitable place to film quickly within school grounds.

It didn't rain while we was filming/ when we wanted to film

Hurdles
We knew about trains going past where we would be filming, but it came out a bigger problem then we hoped, It made  filming time a lot longer as we would have to wait a while for the train to past and we had to redo some shots because of trains going past during the shot.

Everyone being there at every lesson as some days we couldn't film as the main character wouldn't be in school.

The weather, it was really cold being outside while filming. The wind while filming muffled the sound of clips.

Only being aloud to film on school grounds.

Acting difficulties, we were in experienced

Trying to not have cars in the background of shots
